“This great and wild sea, in which are innumerable teeming things, living things both small and great. There the ships sail about; there is that Leviathan which you made to play there.” Ps 104:26
Play. That’s what You, Jesus, have made the great Leviathan to do. You made this untamable Leviathan to play in the sea — a mighty beast splashing about in the great and wild sea, frolicking, happy to be alive.
Play. That’s what You made all the animals of the field to do (Job 40:20).
Play. One day, children will play near cobra’s holes. (Is. 11:6)
You had great fun when You created the waters, shaped the mountains and the hills, flattened the fields, sprinkled the primal dust of the earth, flung the stars and swirling galaxies into the universe. (Proverbs 8:30) There was joy when you made each person, carefully choosing the intricate details that makes each person a unique carrier of Your glory (Proverbs 8:31, Ps 139:14-15).
My prayer is that I would go deep into this part of Your heart, the part that plays and has fun. Jesus, let me look back on my life and see that You have answered this prayer above and beyond my wildest dreams. Amen.
